RATES
Square Inch Price
We charge 2 cents per square inch for all designs.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .02 = $96.
Our minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.
Batting
We use and stock our favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend, and 100% cotton. We have limited quantities of other Quilters Dream batting in stock, please ask for availability. We can also special order any of the Quilters Dream battings including wool, bamboo, and green (made from recycled bottles).
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.
We charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders. We will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch. ***Pricing of the special order battings depends on the size needed for your quilt.***
For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, we would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.
65" of 100% cotton select loft @ $0.40/in = $26.00
65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.38/in = $24.70
Trimming
We also offer an optional trimming service. This would be an additional charge of $10.
Binding Services
We also offer optional machine binding services.
If you provide your own binding:
Attached to one side of quilt: 15 cents per linear inch
Attached to both sides of quilt: 25 cents per linear inch
If you provide fabric for us to make binding:
Attached to one side of quilt: 20 cents per linear inch
Attached to both sides of quilt: 30 cents per linear inch
Thread
We stock Glide #40 weight threads. We don't charge any extra fees for thread use, it's included in your square inch price.
Our personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let us know if you have a preference on thread color.
Photography
We are not professional photographers but we do our best to take "nice" photos with our "good" camera! :) Upon completion of the quilting, we will take photos of your quilt in our well-lit studio and then text/email you those images to use however you would like. We'd just ask that you credit us for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly. This extra service is included in your square inch price.
Shipping
Shipping your top and backing to us: we live in Minnesota, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. We'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: We will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like us to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but we don't require it.
Other Costs
As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. We're required by the State of Minnesota to collect a 7.875% sales tax on the quilting service and batting portions of an invoice. No sales tax is applicable if outside the state of Minnesota.
